Stunfisk is a flat, fishlike Pokémon with a broad, mud-brown body. At the base of its yellow tail is a yellow marking shaped like an exclamation mark when seen from behind. These markings can generate electricity. It has small, horizontal, oval-shaped eyes, white with a tiny black pupil and no irises.

Stunfisk is one of several Pokémon that have Region Forms. If caught or bred from a parent that originates in Galar, it will have its Galarian Form. Thanks to bacteria that lived in the mud flats with it, this Pokémon developed the organs it uses to generate electricity.

Its conspicuous lips lure prey in as it lies in wait in the mud. When prey gets close, Stunfisk clamps its jagged steel fins down on them. Living in mud with a high iron content has given it a strong steel body.

Despite looking seemingly sluggish, Stunfisk are cunning predators. They hunt by burying themselves in sand, then zapping anyone who steps on it, while smiling sadistically. If they can't paralyze the target, they will flee by contorting their bodies to flop away.

Stunfisk is best switched in on attackers that can't do much damage to it and are threatened by paralysis like Scyther. It can then use this pressure to set up Stealth Rock. It is used as a physical sponge with its decent resistances and should be kept healthy so it can check Pokemon like Dodrio.
