Hi, I've attempted to hook my Playstation 3 up to my Samsung 2443BWX which is 1920x1200 16:10. The Problem is that the monitor is beyond 1080p, and whenever their is a 1080p signal from the PS3 the monitor attempts to expand it to full screen reducing the quality. This would not be a big deal if...
The biggest advantages of 1920x1200 are seen when displaying 1920x1080 content. For example, in Windows Media Center, the menus don't cover up the content being displayed.
The true way to look at 16:10 vs. 16:9 and comparing 1920x1080 vs. 1920x1200 would be to show a 1920x1200 picture and remove 60 pixels from both the top and bottom of the 1920x1080 picture.
In which case, 1920x1200 is better because it fits the 1600x1200 resolution perfectly. The perfect monitor for gaming is one that is 1920x1200 and automatically adjusts according to aspect ratio: that is, it can seemlessly jump between 1920x1200, 1920x1080, and 1600x1200 (placing the black bars where necessary).
From what I have read 512MB is matching speed of 1GB versions at 1920x1200 resolution w/o AA with AA enabled 1GB should be noticeable faster.
