The card does not appear as a standard capture device (like a webcam, etc) to other software; you need to use the provided viewer software (link below). You can use another program for recording or live streaming, but it needs to be one capable of doing screen capture (OBS, Camtasia, Fraps, XSplit, etc).
Hold the battery in place and turn the 3DS on, check that both screens and audio are still working. Use a dremel, etc. to carve out space for the capture board. { .. attach capture board, flip over, screw it down, attach other small cable. connect analog stick, screw it down. } Solder wires as shown for USB charging.
Connect the capture card directly to your computer. Some USB devices might interfere, try unplugging them one at a time to see if that helps (xbox wireless adapter is known to cause problems, for example).
