Re: Hornady AMAX VS Sierra Matchking 168GR The AMAX line of bullets are very accurate. In the 168s the AMAX gives you a little better BC too. Buy a box and give them a try. You should be able to use the same load as the 168 SMK. My 178 AMAX load is the same as the load I used to use with the 175 SMK.

I am looking for anyone that has loaded using the following: RL50 Hornady 750 Amax Curious as to your load data and what you were seeing. I am looking to”mimic” the factory Hornady 750 Amax load/speed etc..

1200yds, .308 win, 168gr amax, 2810fps, 964' ASL, 62 F, wind was 1-3mph from 2 o'clock. I hit a 100% IPSC with my cold bore shot and rang it pretty consistent from there on out.

Re: 30 cal 168 gr A-max & Hunting I have used the 168 Amax in a 308 on deer and antelope, near and far, with excellent results. I have also used the 155 Amax and they also performed excellent.

At the lower velocity of longer ranges, target bullets behave very nicely with very good terminal ballistics. Amax is a good bullet but for intended long range hunting I use the brand ( any brand ) that the rifle likes the best and for some reason the Bullets are almost always Sierra or Berger!

I went thru it and several other threads searching. The purpose of this thread is to highlight the 208 AMAX loads only and update with subsequent development since the old thread, which is why I cross posted the original posts as a jumping off point. Thanks for the effort tho, I know you meant well!!
