We are interested in things that are like an atlas. What are the possible adjectives that can describe such things. Four choices that came to mind are: 1) atlantic 2) atlantian 2) atlassian 3)
I looked at the map. = I spent time specifically looking - probably for more than one thing - at the map. I looked in the atlas ( = book of maps) to find the specific map I wanted. I looked into the map - I tried to find out the origin, accuracy, uses, etc., of an individual map. I looked on the big map for all the major cities.
Capitalised Atlas is a name, the name of one particular Titan; it has no plural, logically speaking. If one were required, I would probably say Atlantes, as that would be the regular plural in Greek, where the word comes from (not Latin). The plurals of non-capitalised atlas can be found in any dictionary and is off-topic as General Reference here.

At least I realised that before I posted.) "Himself" here is actually an intensifier rather than a reflexive pronoun (the World Atlas of Language Structures notes that they are often identical). As such it very much belongs with the noun phrase it is intensifying ("He"), and splitting them with a comma would weaken that relationship.
