I’d like to run a water line to the barn from the house. The idea is to drill a hole through the concrete wall in our basement (4 feet below the surface) and run the water pipe through the hole. I would then rent a trencher and dig a 4 foot deep trench to the barn. Because of the distance, I will be running plastic water pipe. The black plastic stuff.

Just heard that Bob Burns, collector of pretty much all Science Fiction and Horror props that ever existed just passed at 90. He was famous for “Bob’s Basement”, a museum in his home dedicated to his vast collection. Among other props, he has one of the two original King Kong (1933) armatures.
I would think that the comfort and security of someone’s childhood bedroom would be much more appealing than living down in the basement. Where the hell did this “basement dweller” thing come from? Is it to try to make the person in question seem like more of a loser for living underground, like some kind of troll or elf or something?
