If the balance on the Gift Card covers the order, your credit card will not be charged. Gift Cards that are saved to your account are automatically removed when their balance reaches $0.00.
You may scratch off the concealed area to reveal the Gift Card's PIN number after purchasing. If your card has a PIN, it must be entered, along with the 15-digit card number labeled "Card No." or "Card #", to redeem it online or check your balance. Barnes & Noble eGift Cards (electronic gift cards) also have PIN numbers.
During Checkout, the Order Total will still reflect the entire amount for the order, not just the amount applied to your Credit Card after a Gift Card is applied. The applied balance of your Gift Cards will show in the Membership, Rewards, Gift Cards, & Coupons section of the Checkout page.
Note: If you have a gift card stored in your bn.com account, that will be used first before a default credit card. Only if the gift card balance is insufficient to cover the entire purchase will your credit card be charged.
