CDL Learner's Permit To obtain a CDL Learner's Permit, you must take and pass the CDL general knowledge test and other necessary knowledge exams (Air Brake, Combination, Tanker, Multiple Trailer, Passenger, School Bus) at a Full-Service Driver Services Center.
The spouse, parent/child, sibling, or grandparent of the CDL applicant needing to use a relative's address and domicile documents MUST hold a valid Tennessee Driver License or ID Only License. The CDL applicant will be required to present two (2) documents with a Tennessee residential address in the name of the immediate relative.
This includes those applying to: Obtain a CDL Class A or Class B for the first time Upgrade an existing CDL Class B to a Class A Obtain a School Bus (S), Passenger (P), or Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement ELDT requirements apply to all individuals who were issued a CDL or an S, P, or H endorsement after Feb. 7, 2022.
