Right now the files on the desktop are located in C:\Users\Joseph\Desktop. So when I go to that folder in Windows Explorer and create a new text document, it would appear on my desktop.

to C:\Users\newName but on start up, it keeps telling me that C:\Users\oldName\Desktop is unavailable. is there anything I missed? the profileImagePath edit should have made my desktop to refer to C:\Users\newName\Desktop, right? I was at first having problems with OneDrive, but I unlinked it after moving all its files to where they belong.

They are both part of your profile, yes, so that seems rather nonsensical. Perhaps this was referring to an earlier version of Windows, or perhaps after moving My Documents to a common location outside your profile, or perhaps simply to moving documents out of both your Desktop, and My Documents.
