It is indeed a DJI app thing, but DJI Fly on iOS is not the same app as on android. They look the same but internally they have some differences, one of which gives us more control over the waypoint flight library. With the latest bridge update for mac/ios you can also finally set your own flight names, in addition to being able to create brand new flights directly from Litchi Hub.
DJI will back up your files if you select that option so you can view the flights on other devices. It's just a guess, but I would imagine it just uploads the .SRT and .LRF files and not the complete 4K files for example.
