Does Finasteride help to regrow hair? Or does it only help to prevent ...
Finasteride does NOT regrow lost follicles although you may have felt like it did for you. Instead what it does is a) keeps hair in the growth phase longer and b) encourages hair follicles that have miniaturized to cycle back toward thicker, more substantial "terminal" hairs. This second effect is why people think they regrew hair.
How long does it take to regrow the lost hair with Finasteride? - RealSelf
MSN: Finasteride: Does it Regrow Hair and What Are the Side Effects?
Finasteride can help regrow hair and improve density. It will take up to 6 months to see results and you'll need to continue use to maintain results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options.
Congrats, that's insane regrowth for finasteride use only. Impressed, your regrown hair seem to look good as well. Are you considering min also? If you're this good of a responder on min as well, then you'll get back A LOT of more hair.
Finasteride was helping you keep the hair you have however, once you stopped it the hair loss will resume. Since you restarted finasteride, keep in mind, that it will not regrow hair it will merely keep the hair loss at bay as best it can.
As a hair transplant surgeon I do not stop androgenetic alopecia, finasteride does, I just fill in cavities (ie.- take good genetic hair from the sides/back and transfer it to the balding area). A hair transplant can eventually look quite unnatural if the doctor does not consider the progressive nature of MPB in each and every individual patient.
