Drontal or Droncit are heavy hitters and in my opinion should only be given in severe cases involving tapeworms, and no more than once a year as a routine worming. Strongid is another wormer that is much milder and should take care of roundworms.

Drontal dewormer is only available with a vet prescription but Bayer, which is the maker of Drontal and has the same ingredients and good reviews, is available online without a prescription. I've researched this and can't figure it out. Does anyone know why and have you used Bayer? Thanks .
