Hey everyone, I'm totally new to metal detecting and just picked up my first detector the Minelab Equinox 900. Super excited to get started but could really use some help figuring out the best settings. The soil around me is pretty tough, lots of mineralized rocky limestone, reddish clay, and som...
The Minelab Equinox 900 metal detector was introduced in 2022 and is still in production. The Equinox 900 is a fully submersible VLF metal detector aimed primarily at coin, jewelry, relic detecting, and saltwater beach detecting as well as gold prospecting.
Do not turn off or disconnect the EQUINOX 700|900 during the update process. Any interruption to the update process will always be fully recoverable by restarting both the detector and the MUU. However, there is a small chance of loss of user settings if the update is interrupted at certain times in the update process.
The Equinox 900 is a very solid improvement over the Equinox 800. The 900 is extremely versatile like the 800 but it also has physical, feature and performance upgrades. Those upgrades, especially its improved ferrous and nonferrous target separation upgrades bring very close to Deus 2.
The Equinox and Legend pull substantially ahead of Deus 2 from my field experience and testing of these three models if small low conductor targets like small sub gram gold nuggets, micro sized gold jewelry and high iron content land or beach mineralization are a factor.
