First of all, Hi. I've lurked here very sporadically for a while, but hadn't posted yet. Finally decided I need to ask some questions. We're in zone 6a and have what I'm 90% sure are Chicago Hardy figs, and we've grown them for about 10 years maybe. My wife started with one bush and then cut and replanted a few more pieces
Not happy with my figs ripening this year. Learned about Growing Degree Days (GDD). Zone 9b Petaluma Ca with base temperature of 50 degrees, 1/1/2023 - 9/11/2023 this year (2109.5) compared to last year 1/1/2022 - 9/11/2022 (2893). No wonder my figs are not ripening!
