Re: Equipment Bollard in a Residential Garage We have a minimum 36 inch high 2" schedule 40 iron pipe embedded in the garage slab. We also have two alternates that are wheel stops and pipes bolted to the floor for retrofits. 99% of the time we see the schedule 40 pipe embedded in the concrete.
Does the residential code require that the garage slab be lower than the house floor? I couldn't find it anywhere, but I have a contractor who swears it does.
Now retired and just want to build a garage, so this is a NYS Residential Code question. Where does the code - IRC close enough - tell me a slab on grade garage floor in unheated building doesn't have to be protected from frost? Lots of unheated post frame/pole barn buildings with an independent slab I them that I'm sure is subject to frost heave.
