To turn on this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Lockscreen. Note This feature might not be available to all users because it will roll out gradually.
Are those unsaved JPG images any different from other JPG images? You can try inserting those JPG images into a new PowerPoint document again, then save and see if that happens.
