Hey all, I have to write/give a persuasive speech for my class. I'd like to do something concerning horses, but I've yet to find a good angle. Any ideas? I've already thought about "horseback riding is a sport" and horse slaughter.
Good entry level saddles provided they fit the horse and rider correctly, but I have to say moving from a Wintec to a similarly-priced (new price, that is) leather dressage saddle made a MASSIVE and immediate difference to my riding.

watch him in the pature, if he trots w/o dragging his feet, he could have back or joint problem, causing weight bearing to bring out the toe dragging issue. I had used to have a lazy horse, dragged his toes, stumbled would even limp on the way out when riding, but when turned back towards home, that limp was gone , and he was high steppin it back to the corral..
A tense horse will not lower their head on their own. Learning how to encourage the horse to lower it's head ( at standstill, walk or even trot) can help them let go of tension and become more available to you. It is your ability to ask them to put their head in different positions that is another way we gain a connection to the horse.
