When AirDrop failed going from iPhone to Mac, I noticed that the Mac Airdrop icon was generic. After running the sudo command, the Mac Airdop icon switched to my current wallpaper. Tried everything else in this thread and it didn't work for me. Thanks Blade 996 and Arman Rajabzadeh!
