I saw a post that Luxottica accquired Oakley along with others like Costa del mar etc... Are they now made in Chine vs the US. How is the quality From what I understand. The parts may say “Made in USA” however assembled in China and beyond. :/ Luxottica has cornered the market on all brands. The story is tragic how Oakley was acquired by them.

Luxottica holds the cards in brick-and-mortar retail: when competitors get too large, Luxottica can simply cut them out of their popular distribution channels, cutting off the life blood to companies that don’t want to play ball with Luxottica. That’s exactly how they treated Oakley (which was independent at the time) in the early 2000′s.

But that hasn’t changed where Oakleys are designed. All Oakleys are still designed and engineered in the USA at their Foothill Ranch Headquarters. Additionally, up to 70% of Oakley parts are still manufactured in the USA as well. However, some parts are produced in the Luxottica factories overseas.

In addition to manufacturing at Oakley's interplanetary headquarters in Foothill Ranch, California, some eyewear components and finished products are also manufactured in facilities owned and operated by our parent company, Luxottica Group, or by select 3 supply partners around the world.

hey all, Just got a notification that there was a Luxottica data breach from "one of their vendors" Only vendor I've ever used is Oakley. Apparently no 'sensitive data' or login credentials were leaked, bit still probably worth changing your password if you've used one of their sites...
