Maxwell House coffee seems to disappear from the supermarkets as soon as they 100% free offers finish. It finished in our local Tesco and Asda a couple of weeks ago, now the normal sized jars are nowhere to be found. Probably see them disappear from netto's shelves in a few weeks.
In a Tesco near you now, Maxwell House coffee at 50 pence for a 100g jar.

Starbucks did play a role in getting America to discover that coffee was more than just Maxwell house french roast. Now we want more than just another nonfat triple venti with caramel. Have you noticed that all those very comfortable chairs have been replaced with McDonalds type hard seats? And why are they so quick to put the lid on the cup?
Regrettably, Robusta has a bad reputation in this country among much of the serious coffee drinking community because so much low quality commodity grade Robusta is used by the big food conglomerates to make the supermarket brands such as Folger's, Maxwell House etc..
That was before the days of "boutique" coffees and as I recall, she used 8-O'Clock Coffee, regular grind, as it was stronger than Folger's, Maxwell House or Yuban.
Gosh. Imagine not being able to get a good cuppa at work. Where I work someone makes a big pot of tea at 11 am, 1 pm and 3pm and we all stop for a cup. The coffee drinkers get maxwell house. Good tea, bad coffee. Pretty much the reverse of the situation across the Atlantic.
