I have the Yamaha CX-5200 and want to do the YPAO calibration. I have read up on this and understand that I need to do the calibration from multiple seating points, with the mic at ear level (preferably on boom stand). I couldn't find much on how to set up the Yamaha YPAO mic, so want to confirm...

The Audyssey mic used with Denon/Marantz (and on those earlier Onkyo models that feature Audyssey) can go down to 10Hz whereas the Yamaha mic can only go down to 31Hz, so definitely not the same. No info available on the Pioneer mic.

It seems to be fairly reliable and reproducible. The acm1hb mic cal is the generic one D&M uses, so I’d imagine it’s generally applicable to all audyssey mics. What you can try is combining the 2, and it’ll give you a mic cal file which will make the acm1hb mic measure near identical to a umik when using it via sound card and REW.

Edit: After plugging in the mic to my laptop headphone socket, and playing music, but not hearing music through the mic as suggested, I tried it and the mic worked again Maybe this playing a signal through the mic made it wake up (?), but I am happy its working 😁

The mic did not detect the audio from the front speakers either (the audio was loud as they typically are during calibration), and Audyssey reported there was a speaker problem. I then plugged the Audyssey mic into my laptop's mic input and using REW software to detect the audio levels, there was no shown output from the mic.
