My guess, Gal Wife came from Girlfriend Wife. The difference is that while she will become his wife, she will also still act like a girlfriend. Means that they will still go on lots of dates, unlike a normal wife. Normal wife usually at home taking care of things, and rarely have time to go on dates with husband. I think.
