The series' exploration of different underwater life and locations is a interesting change of pace. The Nautilus takes the audience on a thrilling journey. The show's potential for storytelling is limitless, and I hope to see many seasons to come. While I'm disappointed that Disney passed on this series, I hope it finds a deserving home.
The series will air on AMC and AMC+ as a special television event in 2024. Nautilus tells the origin story of the iconic Captain Nemo: an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him.
When Disney+ walked away from Nautilus, many assumed the show would sink before it even set sail. The series, a bold retelling of Captain Nemo’s origin, was shelved during Disney’s cost-cutting purge, another casualty of the streaming wars. But AMC+ swooped in, giving the show a second life, and now the numbers prove it was the right call.
