Quincy, just minutes from Boston, is where history and modern vibrance blend seamlessly. Known as the City of Presidents, Quincy invites you to experience its rich heritage, diverse dining scene, beautiful waterfront parks, and exciting year-round events.

Set off from Braintree and incorporated as a town (township) in 1792, it was renamed to honour Colonel John Quincy, a prominent local resident. Quincy is notable as the home of the celebrated Adams family.

It includes 71 sites in the 36-block National Register Quincy Historic District. A free 20-page Quincy Walking Tour booklet and map can be picked up at the Quincy Main Street office (104-A N. Adams Street) and at most downtown Quincy businesses.

This is the birthplace of John Adams (1735-1826) and his son John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), the second and sixth U.S. presidents. John Hancock, the first signer of the Declaration of Independence, was also born in Quincy.
