The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are the state standards for what students should know and be able to do in each subject and grade level. The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) has legislative authority to adopt the TEKS for each subject of the required curriculum.
The foundation TEKS are those in English language arts and reading, mathematics, science and social studies. The foundation curriculum also includes English language proficiency standards for English language learners in each subject of the required curriculum.
This shared service agreement, or SSA, allows participating ESCs to share responsibility for the management and operations of the online curriculum management system known as the TEKS Resource System.
