My son just got accepted to UCSC for Biology. His plan is to do pre-med track. I totally agree with what you said about it is easier to stand out in UCSC compare to UCLA or UCB. Therefor he is really leaning to accept UCSC. Another school we are considering is Pepperdine and SLO. Pepperdine is so expensive but easier to maintain GPA.
