I am seriously considering buying an 18.5' Wahoo Center Console. I have always been a whaler fan and am comparing the Wahoo with a 17' Montauk. I dont need to be sold on the whaler but I am drawn to the Wahoo because it is a center console and that fits my style and lifestyle much more. So what are the group's thoughts on the Wahoo?
My 86 Wahoo! has the smirk my friends 91 doesn't, funny the early Whaler hulls were smirkless and Wahoo! went the other way because of pressure from BW. I have owned several Montauks and still have a 74 and even though I like the Montauk cannot see a significant better build quality in the Whaler.
Your best chances at catching a wahoo from a San Diego sport boat would be going on a longer, 6-10 day trip in the late summer or Fall.
The Boating Forum - BW vs. Wahoo - Brother just got an older (1986) 16' wahoo and I couldn't help but notice how similar it looked to a bw of the same era. Besides having a built in tank, fold down rear seats, and a windshield, the wahoo's hull looked very similar to that of a whaler.

What is the most effective way to rig Nomad DTX 220 HD lurers for wahoo? I believe some prefer 175# multi-strand wire, about 4’ and others have shifted to 200# or 300# flourocarbon, again about 4‘. Which gets bit the best or does it really not...
