A full acrylic cabinet probably has atrocious sonic properties, but you might get away with a small, thick acrylic window in an MDF cabinet. But yes, that is indeed quite beautifully designed for a component that (most likely) won't be visually appreciated...
A Technics SL-M3 (possibly the 3rd best TT that Technics made back in the early to mid 1980's) & my secondary TT, a refurbished DUAL 1229 from Fix My DUAL with a walnut base & acrylic dustcover (I want to get a DUAL 1229Q and a Schiit Syn or [or a possibly better unit to run 4.2 for my old quad stuff]).
Platter. It is an acrylic/bronze/acrylic sandwich and very heavy. The top is very slightly conical with the centre about 1mm lower than the periphery. When the clamp is fitted this pulls slight warps to flat.
I have the Achromat in 3mm and do like it, on acrylic platters the Derenville mat is fantastic, last I checked Dr. Feickert sells it now, and it got more expensive. Should have grabbed a couple, when I had the chance. Best mat so far, still - the Merrill lead mat. Have to try to make clones. Hard to get that, flat is another matter with these ...
